Cape Reinga: the most
northerly point of NZ. Here the waters of the Pacific Ocean (to the right)
meet the Tasman Sea (on the left), sometimes generating huge waves.
The tree is a 800 yrs. old pohutukawa tree hiding the entrance to the mythical
Maori Underworld. Traditionally, the soul of the departed travelled north
to this point, where it slid down the roots of this tree and so rejoined
the ancestral spirits in Hawaiki.
